Alice and Jay - 21st April 2012 - Coombe Lodge, Blagdon

Another fantastic wedding at Coombe Lodge in Blagdon yesterday probably one of my favourites of the year so far. As a wedding photographer it's great when couples choose to do something a little bit different. Alice and Jay chose everything for their big day because they wanted it and not because tradition disctated that they should, they were wonderfully friendly and welcoming and Tara and I loved being part of their celebrations. The couple had a really clear idea of what they wanted from their Big Day and chose beautiful bright colours. They used Chilli's as a running theme (Jay has a tiny addiction to chilli and VERY hot sauce) he wore chilli's on his button hole and the male guests recieved bottles of chilli sauce as favours. Bright red chilli peppers were also used to great effect as table decorations. Alice wore a very flattering virbrant purple dress which she complemented with neutral bridesmaids dresses. Quite extreme weather meant that sadly the couple couldn't marry outside as they wished but we managed to pop out between downpours in glorious sunshine to capture some great images. As I found out on their engagement shoot Alice and Jay really like quirky images with unusual effects. Slightly desaturated and aged looking pictures aswell as overstaurated and vignetted pictures. I'm always happy to do this kind of work on my clients photos and very much looking forward to showing them the final gallery!

Claire and Martin - 14th April 2012 - Battleborough Grange Hotel, Brent Knoll

Claire and Martin got married last Saturday at the ever popular Battleborough Grange Hotel in Brent Knoll. The Bride and her attendants got ready at Claire's Mothers farm which was a lovely backdrop to the hustle and bustle of the getting ready and  for the detail shots I used an old farmhouse table that was brilliantly placed in the back garden. Claire chose a lilac and Cadbury Purple colour scheme which was a perfect Spring choice. Claire said that she thought she may have gone a bit overboard on the scheme as Lilac is her favourite colour, but I very much believe that if you're planning on having a theme at your wedding then run with it....and the banquet room at Battlebrough Grange looked fantastic. There were lots of children involved in Claire and Martin's Big Day including their 16 month old daughter Emily who was one of the best behaved flowergirls I have ever met. Not a peep out of her all day! Her big brother Cameron clearly had the magic touch and she was quite happy to be carried by him for some happy family pictures.

Barbara and Paul - 7th April 2012 - Kingsdon Church and Longsutton Golf Club

It's always lovely to arrive to a relaxed bride and her attendants on the morning of the wedding. Barbara was having her hair and makeup done by friends and everyone was in their pyjamas enjoying a glass of bubbly on the morning of her big day. Paul and their sons appeared just as relaxed when I arrived at the church and the boys were very happy to pose for me while looking very handsome in their matching suits. Barbara and Paul requested a family feel to their photographs so it was the perfect opportunity for me to take lots of photos of their children who played up to the camera brillaintly. Quite a damp afternoon meant that when I took the happy couple out for some pictures on the course at the Longsutton Golf Club we got some great clouds overhead that give lovely atmosphere to their romantic pictures by the lake. I hope Barbara and Paul have a lovely week away and a fantastic second honeymoon with the family later in the year!

Denise and Jamie - 31st March 2012 - St Giles, Bredon and The Daffodil, Cheltenham

It is not very often that I get to photograph such a wide range of venues that Jamie and Denise chose as the backdrops for their big day. We started the morning at the very contemporary Montpellier Chapter in Cheltenham. This was followed by a traditional wedding in the quaint parish church of Bredon and photos in a park back in the town centre. The couple then chose an Art Deco 1920's cinema called the Daffodil  for their reception which required some off camera flash for arty couple shots. I even got some "Abbey Road" and gritty, urban shots (well as gritty and urban as Cheltenham gets!) of the wedding party walking to the park. A great day to be a wedding photographer!
